WordPress.com Stats vs. Google Anayltics

Have a look at some recent stats for this site from both WordPress.com and Google Analytics.

As you can see there are some differences between the two. They follow the same trends, but when WordPress.com sees some traffic, the spike is a whole lot bigger. I don’t know how each service records traffic, how do I know which is the true number? Any thoughts?
